Organosulfides

Toyohira onion showed significant antithrombotic and thrombolytic activity. Moreover, this vegetable also had an antiplatelet effect. In contrast, 2935A and K83211 onion varieties showed only thrombolytic activity. Interestingly, quercetin was not found to affect antithrombotic activity of onions. Therefore, future studies in populations should also consider the antithrombotic effect of vegetables.
